Prosperity Indiana Annual Awards

Each year, Prosperity Indiana celebrates individuals and organizations in Indiana that have made a positive impact on the Hoosier community economic development field. Help us recognize individuals and projects in Indiana that have demonstrated excellence in the field of community economic development.

Award nominations are due by Friday, November 30, 2018.

Prosperity Indiana's Annual Awards:

The Michael Carroll Community Economic Development Leadership Award honors an individual who has exhibited exceptional advocacy to further support the community economic development industry.

The John Niederman Rural Development Leadership Award honors an individual who has demonstrated outstanding leadership in improving the quality of life, influencing policies, and fostering opportunities for growth and development for the betterment of rural Indiana.

The Robert O. Zdenek Staff Member of the Year Award honors an individual who contributes to their organization and to the community economic development field as a whole. This person shows leadership and personal initiative and continues participation and contribution to general public service.

The Key Award for Supportive Services Program of the Year honors a unique program model that leads in the area of service provision and/or volunteerism.

Award winners will be recognized at the 2019 Prosperity Indiana Summit during the Awards Luncheon and Plenary. Each winner will have the opportunity to designate a 501(c)3 nonprofit to receive a cash award.

Please note that you must complete the entire nomination form in order for your nominee to be considered. Make sure you select the correct award category. If you'd like to prepare your answers before completing the form, look below to see what will be requested regarding each award. Note that you'll also have the opportunity to attach up to 3 supporting documents (e.g. newspaper articles), but no attachments are required.

Nomination questions for each award:

Michael Carroll Community Economic Development Leadership Award Nomination:

  • Provide a description of the person's contributions to the housing and community economic development (CED) field, over and above normal employment expectations, and their contributions to general public service.
  • Describe how this person has exhibited exceptional advocacy/leadership on behalf of the affordable housing and CED industry and the impact of their advocacy/leadership.
    • Raising awareness and/or education others about affordable housing and CED
    • Advocacy may be on the federal, state, or local levels

John Niederman Rural Development Leadership Award Nomination:

  • Describe how this person embodies social entrepreneurship as demonstrated by a mission to create and sustain social value.
  • Provide a description of how this person operates in a collaboration-first approach and puts the assets and talents of people at the center of their work.
  • Provide a description of this person's commitment to innovation and the measurement of outcomes.

Robert O. Zdenek Staff Member of the Year Award Nomination:

  • Provide a description of the person's contributions to their organization, the community economic development field, and general public service.
  • Describe how the person exhibits leadership and personal initiative.
  • Provide evidence for this person's continuity of participation in the field of community economic development.
Key Award for Supportive Services Program of the Year Nomination:
  • Provide a description of the program:
    • Brief overview of mission and services.
    • How is it a leader in the area of service provision and/or volunteerism?
    • How does it provide a unique program model?
    • What is its impact on community and/or constituents?
    • Are there other stakeholders involved in collaborative efforts for program success?
