Reclaiming Vacant Properties Conference Scholarships Available
Scholarship applications are being accepted for the Center for Community Progress’ Reclaiming Vacant Properties Conference (RVP) to be held in St. Louis, MO from October 9-11, 2024. Applications are due June 24, 2024, at 11:59 PM ET. More information and application link can be found here.
Housing Counseling Funding Announced
On May 16, 2024, HUD and the Biden-Harris Administration announced that they are awarding nearly $40 million to expand comprehensive housing counseling services for homebuyers, homeowners, and renters throughout America. These awards – through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) Office of Housing Counseling – will fund counseling services that equip individuals and families with vital education and resources to inform decisions about their housing needs and opportunities.
This new funding to more than 165 housing counseling agencies around the country will build economic opportunity while helping homebuyers throughout America improve their credit, find down payment assistance programs, understand loan terms and types of mortgages, navigate the application process, and identify housing discrimination.
Congratulations to Lincoln Hills Development Corporation and the New Albany Housing Authority for becoming grant recipients of these HUD Housing Counseling expansion funds!

Legal Questions with Indiana Legal Help
Hoosiers with questions about housing legal issues such as eviction can get help from legal navigators through the Indiana Legal Help Desk. The help desk can be found on the Indiana Legal Help website. Just look for the blue speech bubble on the bottom right of your screen and follow the instruction to “Click here to contact us.” Legal navigators help Hoosiers find free eviction clinics in their area, connect to attorneys who offer free services, and get information about the eviction process.
Anyone can ask a question online, text, or email the help desk and a navigator will respond shortly. From 10AM to 2PM (ET) on Monday through Friday, you can chat with a live navigator and from 10AM to 2PM (ET) on Monday and Tuesday you can also talk to a navigator over the phone. Staff Updates
Prosperity Indiana is pleased to announce recent updates on our staff! Andrew Bradley has begun in a new role as Senior Director of Policy and Strategy, providing leadership on the strategic direction of initiatives that affect PI’s mission, including public policy and advocacy at the federal, state and local levels.
Teresa Reimschisel has moved into the role of Operations & Finance Director. As Director of Operations & Finance, Teresa’s experience, insights and best practices enhance Prosperity Indiana’s financial controls, daily operations and pathway to growth. Teresa leads by optimizing resources, streamlining systems and managing human resources in alignment with Prosperity Indiana’s organizational values.

HHNC Webinar Series Waitlist For the past several years, harmful and stigmatizing legislation that aims to criminalize homelessness has been sweeping the nation. This legislation comes pre-packaged from a well-funded thinktank organization called the Cicero Institute that weaponizes fear and pushes for solutions that don’t work. During the 2024 state legislative session, the first Cicero bill was introduced in Indiana. We know from our allies in other states that these bills always come back, and we’re determined to be ready. Bloomington Nonprofits Invited to Apply for 2024 Digital Equity Grants
The City of Bloomington invites nonprofit organizations to apply for funding to support their efforts to bridge the digital divide and increase digital resources for residents. The Digital Equity Grants program will award $50,000 in funds to Bloomington-based nonprofits, with 2024 proposals accepted digitally by 5 p.m. on Friday, June 14 here.
