Reflections & Renewals
Dear Prosperity Indiana Members,
As we approach the end of 2023, we're excited to share some of the incredible work Prosperity Indiana was able to achieve on behalf of Hoosiers and our communities this past year. These advancements would not have been possible without your unwavering support, and we can't thank you enough.
Our commitment to fostering economic growth and financial well-being for all Hoosiers has yielded remarkable results. We provided training to over 600 participants through virtual and online programming with outstanding feedback of 99% of all participants expressing their satisfaction. Our Kickstart webinar series tackled vital developer training topics such as: LIHTC Funding, Site Control, Market Analysis, and Asset Management. Additionally, we tailored training programs for organizations like the Muncie Land Bank, Ft. Wayne's Center for Nonviolence, and Indianapolis' John Boner Neighborhood Centers.
PI has made significant progress in promoting community development. We successfully completed a housing strategy plan for the NNN in South Bend and an Arts Master Plan for Portland. In collaboration with various developer training providers, we established the Developer Training Collaborative, a coordinated series of programs for aspiring, emerging, and skilled real estate developers, further contributing to community growth and sustainability.
On the policy front, we championed important initiatives that will have a lasting impact on our community. We successfully advocated for the re-coupling of Indiana's Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) to the federal credit, eliminating the previous state EITC 'marriage penalty', benefiting Hoosier families. Also, our efforts led to the passage of SEA 35, ensuring that all Hoosier students starting with the Class of 2028 will have access to a standalone financial literacy course as they graduate high school, equipping them with essential financial skills needed in adulthood.
Working alongside dedicated PI members, our team has actively engaged with state and federal legislators. We released a 'Get to Know Your Legislators' toolkit to help our members connect with their legislators and make their voices heard. Our ‘Advocacy 101’ webinar series and ‘Policy & Pizza’ community conversations have been instrumental in our advocacy efforts, promoting active civic engagement and collaboration.
In addition, this year, Prosperity Indiana members united in support of alternatives to payday and predatory lending, making strides in building momentum for the statewide expansion of our Community Loan Center program, which enhances borrowers' financial stability by reporting payments to credit bureaus, boosting their credit scores, and fostering long-term financial well-being.
These collective accomplishments reflect our commitment to strengthening Indiana’s community economic development sector, driving positive change and enhancing the financial well-being of our communities. We invite you to continue your invaluable support as we journey into the new year, knowing that our collective impact is instrumental to Indiana’s long-term success. Together, we'll build on these achievements and work toward a brighter future!

Accepting Proposals for PI’s 2024 Summit | April 2024
The deadline to complete a Request for Proposals (RFP) PI’s 2024 Summit is quickly approaching. Topic suggestions or session outlines should provide thought-provoking content and catalyze conversations outlining specific roles all stakeholders (local governments, community planners, realtors, appraisers, housing authorities, elected officials, funders, residents, and community-based organizations) can play in supporting equitable solutions to Indiana’s attainable housing crisis. Ensure you have strong “take-aways” from our annual Summit by submitting your proposal before December 8, 2023!

PNC Development Banking
PNC’s second annual Community Leadership Symposium brought together business, policy and community leaders from across the country for a full-day of networking, panel discussions and evidence-based learning. Nearly 120 leaders from a diverse cross-section of industries gathered with PNC leadership and stakeholders to share solutions to elevate and advance economic opportunities for low and moderate-income communities and communities of color.
Intend Indiana
Intend Indiana has been selected as one of the 14 community partners to receive a grant from the IU Health Foundation to address key social and environmental factors that impact people's health outcomes. The grant provides $750,000 over three years to expand Intend Indiana’s HomePower program to provide affordable housing for low-income homebuyers.

Cinnaire’s Advancing Communities Podcast brings together Cinnaire Senior VP Monty Childs with thought leaders, policy makers, and developers who are making an impact on the community development and affordable housing industries. Check out the podcast here.
1st Source Bank
1st Source Bank's Commercialization Award Dinner, established in 2008 with a $1 million gift from 1st Source Bank, presents annually to faculty from the University of Notre Dame or the Indiana University School of Medicine-South Bend who have successfully transitioned their technologies from the lab to the marketplace. Thomas O'Sullivan, associate professor of the University of Notre Dame, was named first-place prize winner and awarded a $25,000 cash prize. Tengfei Luo, the Dorini Family Professor for Energy Studies, was named runner-up with a $10,000 prize. |

Center for Learning Launches YouTube Channel
The Alliance’s Center for Learning has launched a YouTube channel to provide practical how-to resources for homeless response.
This channel was created in response to feedback requesting online training that is easier to access, quicker to absorb, and features the voices of colleagues from across the homeless response sector.

Pending Federal Grants Reforms Could Make Life Easier for Nonprofits
The Biden Administration proposed significant changes to the rules governing federal grantmaking that would correct longstanding challenges that have limited nonprofit effectiveness, discouraged qualified organizations from seeking federally funded grants, and wasted billions of dollars and countless hours in jumping through needlessly complex reporting requirements.
