THANK YOU to the record number of Prosperity Indiana members, partners, and legislators for making PI Statehouse Day 2025 on January 30 our largest and most effective ever! Together we made the case that Indiana needs strong investments in our communities to build housing, community development resources, and economic opportunity for *all* Hoosiers.
Thank you also to members for your ongoing advocacy and responses to action alerts regarding PI’s 2025 Member Priority Legislation. With your help, we’ve been able to take some major steps on Member Priorities in the first half of the session of the General Assembly, including:

PI Priority Concern HB 1662 the ‘criminalization of homelessness’ bill, was not called down for a final House vote by the deadline on February 20. This means the bill is technically dead, but Prosperity Indiana will be vigilantly working to ensure this dangerous language does not re-emerge. See PI’s statement and media coverage of HB 1662’s demise.
With so much happening at the state and federal level, PI is advocating for our members every day, and we work to make it easier to lift our voices together. PI members receive weekly updates on state and federal policy developments with current advocacy opportunities. The Tippecanoe Housing Solutions Coalition is hosting a public housing discussion the week of April 7th-11th, 2025 at the Public Safety Center in Lafayette, Indiana. Conversations will center around evaluating possible housing projects, resources and tools available to prevent evictions and foreclosures, county/city zoning regulations, and needed services supporting housing stability and habitability. Housing Navigation 101 Training |

Prosperity Indiana, with support from Humana, is partnering with Health Visions Midwest and the Indiana Primary Health Care Association, is developing a five-module housing navigation course designed specifically for community health workers (CHWs). Housing Navigation 101 will increase community health workers’ understanding of how government-funded housing programs operate and expand community health workers’ ability to direct patients and clients to healthy housing. PI will be beta testing this training in mid-April. Maternal and Child
Health Initiative, with the assistance and feedback of numerous attorneys and advocates
throughout Indiana created the Indiana Tenant Habitability Guide. The
guide explains the available protections in Indiana for tenants who have

United Way Leadership United Program
Leadership United participants are corporate and community leaders looking to develop their skills as nonprofit board leaders in the Central Indiana community. Participants gain insight into the challenges facing individuals and families in Central Indiana who are struggling to make ends meet and develop skills in nonprofit board leadership - leaving the program fully prepared to serve on a nonprofit board in our community.
