This is a great opportunity to network, learn about emerging trends in the field, and take advantage of the services PI provides members. Housing Navigation Training Updates
PI, in partnership with the Indiana Primary Health Care Association (IPHCA) and HealthVisions Midwest, is currently hosting the third Beta Test of the Housing Navigation Training, which concludes June 27th, 2025.
PI and its partners for this project are excited to share that PI will be offering this training again, due to on-going interest, in August. Mark your calendars, the program begins on August 11th and concludes on August 22nd. Virtual sessions will last 105 minutes and will occur on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays during that 2-week timeframe. Registration for this event will be posted on PI’s events page by June 27th. IHCDA’s IERA2 Program Status
IHCDA has appealed a court order instructing the agency to re-open the Indiana Emergency Rental Assistance program. The Indiana Court of Appeals has granted IHCDA’s motion to stay or postpone the order to re-open the program while the appeal is reviewed. IHCDA will be prepared to re-open the program should the Indiana Court of Appeals require it.
If the Court of Appeals determines that IHCDA must re-open the program, parties that had an active application will be notified of next steps via email. The public will be notified if and when the program re-opens to new applications. IHCDA understands that this is a difficult time. Please know that IHCDA is working as quickly as they are able, to effectively carry out the rulings of Indiana’s courts while continuing to serve Hoosiers. Prosperity Indiana ACTION ALERT: Amplify our call for a Governor’s Housing Commission!
Thank you PI members for joining nearly 700 Hoosier organizations and individuals who joined PI’s sign-on letter delivered on June 13 urging Governor Braun to create and convene a Commission on Housing Safety, Stability, and Affordability. PI’s letter has been covered by WTHR, Indiana Public Media, and in Fort Wayne, Lafayette, Logansport, and Terre Haute local media.
Now we need you to help amplify that message. Please click here to TAKE ACTION to send a message directly to Governor Braun and urge him to address Indiana's housing crisis now! Whether you signed the original letter or not, every Action Alert sent to the Governor helps demonstrate that housing is a top concern of Hoosiers that he needs to prioritize.
PI’s successful defense against the criminalization of homelessness receives national recognition
After an intensive and prolonged advocacy campaign, Prosperity Indiana and the Hoosier Housing Needs Coalition we convene defeated three versions of a Cicero Institute-sponsored bill to criminalize homelessness in the Indiana General Assembly. See the recent write-up of this successful advocacy in the National Low Income Housing Coalition’s new memo ‘Indiana Advocates Successfully Defeat Three Iterations of Homelessness Criminalization Legislation’.
TAKE ACTION on Community Economic Development priorities moving in Congress
With so much happening on the federal policy level, here are some quick actions you and your organization can take, coming from trusted state and national partners.
Protect vulnerable Hoosiers from devastating cuts to Medicaid and SNAP in the Congressional reconciliation bill, via Feeding Indiana’s Hungry.
Protect Philanthropy in the reconciliation bill, via the Indiana Philanthropy Alliance.
Sign on to Defend Small Business & Farm Fair Lending Law by protecting Section 1071 of Dodd Frank from attack in the reconciliation bill, and tell the Senate to oppose cuts to Medicaid, SNAP, the CFPB, student financial aid, and the CFPB, via Americans for Financial Reform.
Push back on proposed cuts to HUD programs and services in the FY26 Federal Budget with this sign on letter and action alert, via NLIHC.

Each year, Unity offers “Power for Good” Community Grants on a competitive basis. Qualified nonprofit organizations, governmental bodies, and educators serving La Porte County may apply for grants up to $5000. In 2024, we awarded $210,000 in funding to 53 local organizations!
