Collaborating for Affordable Housing Development - What it Takes in 2025
This year’s Keynote conversation will dive into how this multisector collaboration is expanding affordable housing in Shelby County. Housing Navigation Training Updates
Prosperity Indiana, in partnership with the Indiana Primary Health Care Association (INPHCA) and HealthVisions Midwest, just concluded its first ever Housing Navigation 101 course specifically designed for community health workers on April 25, 2025.
PI and its partners for this project are excited to share that the next beta test of this training will be offered at the beginning of June. Mark your calendars, the program begins on June 2 and concludes on June 13, sessions will last 90 minutes and will occur on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays during that 2-week timeframe. General Assembly Recap
Amid growing national challenges for community economic development and a late-breaking $2.4B Indiana state budget shortfall that resulted in painful state cuts, Prosperity Indiana was able to secure significant progress on key legislation for our network during the 2025 session of the Indiana General Assembly. Not only was PI able to see Member Priority Legislation cross the finish line to become law, but with the help of our network and coalition partners we were able to defeat dangerous legislation and set up long-term progress on key CED priorities. However, with growing fiscal concerns, Indiana needs to commence significant work to align available resources to reinforce our critical community economic development infrastructure. Community Loan Center of West Central Indiana is a program
of Homestead Resources, serving a 20-county
footprint and helping 661 consumers last year access an affordable small dollar
loan as an alternative to costly payday lending services. Homestead Resources is in its 10th year of providing small dollar consumer loans. They
provide a comprehensive suite of financial education and housing counseling
services that impact over 2,000 consumers a year with a 42-year history of

Brightpoint Development Fund Financial Foundations
Community Loan Center of Northeast Indiana is a program of Brightpoint Development Fund serving 17 counties and distributing 1695 low-interest/low-fee loans to Hoosier borrowers in 2024. Brightpoint offers Personal Financial Foundations classes as part of their mission to create economic opportunities for communities, families, and individuals. A solid personal financial foundation is the key to financial stability and long-term financial growth. Understanding how credit and banking services operate can lead to financial confidence and independence.
One-on-One Coaching
One-on-One Coaching sessions offer individuals or families a chance to work with a coach to develop a customized plan to address their most pressing financial struggles. Coaching consists of four sessions over four to six months.
Personal Financial Foundations classes
Personal Financial Foundations is a series of four classes that cover the basics of managing one's finances. The courses include an overview session touching on the key points of the series and how to start the path, followed by sessions focused on budgeting, credit, and banking. These offerings can be virtual or in-person and are free of charge and open to the public in their service area. Community Loan Center of Northwest Indiana is a program of CoAction, the state’s largest combined Area Agency on Aging and Community Action Agency, serving 7 counties. With a focus on eliminating barriers that make life difficult, CoAction offers a variety of services to support veterans, older adults, individuals with disabilities, caregivers and people with low incomes. Their vision of seeing the people of Northwest Indiana flourish regardless of income, ability or age propels their commitment to ensuring the local community has access to low-interest/low fee alternatives to payday loans.
In celebration of Financial Literacy Month and America Saves Week, community partners Centier Bank and People’s Bank joined staff in presenting in-person financial wellness training and resource sharing in coordination with CoAction's annual tax preparation assistance services.
