This training, led by the Indianapolis Neighborhood Resource Center (INRC) and Purdue Extension, will provide practical tools and strategies for engaging the community. The training will begin with sessions on cultural awareness and asset mapping to help participants learn to get a better understanding of their communities. The first day will end with a general overview of engagement strategies and how to use them.

On the second day of training, representatives from organizations serving specific populations will share their work and how to engage with diverse populations, including youth, LGBT youth, people with disabilities, immigrants, and Hispanic and Black communities. Participants will also learn about the importance of and tools for collaboration. Finally, participants will incorporate what they learned into a Community Engagement Plan, with guidance and feedback from the trainers.

This training is underwritten by the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority.
