Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), or traumatic events that occur in childhood (0-17 year), are common. In fact, 61% of adults surveyed across 25 states reported that they had experienced at least one type of ACE. The health and community costs of ACEs are extremely high, totaling hundreds of billions of dollars each year. The good news is that preventing ACEs can reduce a large number of costs as well as open up opportunities for underserved populations. You will leave this program able to articulate what an ACE is, understand how ACEs impact social opportunity, and support the reduction of ACEs.
