Reducing Child Poverty in Indiana With the Federal Child Tax Credit

The federal government offers child tax credits to enhance the economic security of low and moderate income families with children. It is estimated that the credit lifts nearly 2 million children out of poverty each year nationwide.

A new bill, which has already passed through the House of Representatives in Washington D.C. and must now make it through the Senate, would expand the existing federal child tax credit and benefit an additional 326,000+ Hoosier children.

Join us on Zoom on February 22nd to learn more from a national expert about this exciting piece of legislation and what we can do to support it.

Attendees will learn about...

  • The history and basic functionality of the child tax credit

  • How this legislation could expand the child tax credit's impact on low income Hoosier families-- particularly rural and active duty military families

  • How you can show your support to ensure that this bill becomes law

Speakers include...

Stephanie Hingtgen, Research Analyst for the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities

Stephanie Hingtgen is a Research Analyst with the Federal Fiscal and Income and Poverty Trends teams. Prior to joining the Center, Stephanie supported health services research projects focused on vulnerable populations at the University of Michigan Medical School.
