Medical Debt and Family Financial Stability

The burden of medical debt is particularly acute in Indiana. A Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) February 2022 report found that Indiana has the eleventh highest share of its population with a medical debt in collections (18.2% with $2.2 billion outstanding) in the United States and the highest among Midwest neighbors. Advocates and researches will share results of its recent report, Medical Debt in Indiana, to increase your knowledge of the impact of medical debt on family financial stability and offer ideas on how community-based organizations can address the health and social impacts of Indiana’s medical debt crisis.
